This course will explore the theories, methods, and pitfalls of forecasting in the business context. It will focus primarily on changes in communication technologies, but students will also learn how to uncover relevant socio-cultural trends. Students will read both academic and business sources relating to forecasting. Instruction will include case studies of forecasting wins and losses in the business world. Students will produce their own forecast, based on their interest, and selected from a variety of formats including text, video, imagery, and even fiction.
