Urban Jungle: Re-Imagining science education

Communication Challenge: What communication strategies could make science more accessible to the general public?

When the March for Science happened in 2017, the attention for science increased. It is evident, however, that many people do not have fundamental scientific knowledge — from people who don’t believe in climate change to those who cannot keep their houseplants alive. Science is universal, but it does not mean that science is easy to understand.

The solution is to start early — we need to re-imagine science education to make science part of daily life for kids. Science can be fun if approached correctly. As shown in the image above, my solution is building a mobile game that teaches plant biology to students from K-12.
